The Avere FXT Series of high-performance NAS appliances is the first-ever solution to deliver performance tiering and scale-out clustering to any NAS environment. Avere FXT appliances are vendor agnostic and can add valuable functionality to both existing and new NAS deployments whether they are from a single-vendor or configured as heterogeneous NAS environments.
Challenge
Traditional NAS solutions come with four inherent problems:
Solution
To address these issues all Avere solutions are engineered under the A-3 Architecture. Three pillars of innovation define the A-3 Architecture:
What is Demand Driven Storage?
Each FXT Series hardware platform contains DRAM and NVRAM and accelerates the performance of active data. The most active data is stored in the DRAM while write performance is accelerated and protected by the NVRAM provided in each appliance. Each appliance also contains 8 SLC Flash SSDs or 8 SAS HDDs to support large application working sets.
To simplify the day-to-day management, configuration and deployment of your NAS infrastructure, the Avere FXT Series comes with a powerful graphical user interface. This GUI provides a wealth of statistics and unmatched visibility into the operations of your entire NAS environment, including clients, applications servers, and storage.
FXT Series hardware platforms are compact, highly reliable, and provide redundant network ports and power. The FXT Series is offered in three models, FXT 2750, FXT 2550, and FXT 2300. All models support 10GbE and 1GbE networking.
FXT 2750
Contains 72GB DRAM, 1GB NVRAM, and 512GB SLC Flash per appliance and an application working set of up to 13TB raw per cluster.
FXT 2550
Contains 72GB DRAM, 1GB NVRAM, and 3.6TB SAS per appliance and an application working set of up to 90TB raw per cluster.
FXT 2300
Contains 64GB DRAM, 1GB NVRAM, and 1.2TB SAS per appliance and an application working set of up to 29TB raw per cluster.
Reduce Costs
Avere solutions are highly efficient and typically require 80% less equipment than traditional NAS
Scale Performance
The Avere FXT Series supports up to 25 appliances per cluster and linearly scales to millions of ops/sec performance and tens of GB/sec throughput.
Enable NAS Cloud
Avere enables cloud storage for NAS applications demanding moderate to high performance by caching active data on FXT appliances near the user, eliminating the latency of the WAN.
Virtualization & Visibility
Avere supports multiple, heterogeneous mass storage systems per FXT cluster. With its built-in global namespace functionality it enables you to access all systems through a single mount point while the GUI lets you visualize your entire NAS environment.
