V-Ray 2.0 for Maya

Well, what to say about V-Ray for Maya? Damn fast! The calculation speed is very impressive even with huge and complex scenes.

Packed with a rich set of features and a powerful system, V-Ray for Maya enables the rendering of even larger scenes with greater complexity, and artists can rely on a faster rendering process.

V-Ray 2.0 for Maya is now shipping. See a list of features below.

Features

  • Multi-platform object-orientated core architecture.
  • Efficient geometry handling including on-demand dynamic geometry creation (.vrmesh files, converter for .OBJ, .PLY, .GEO files included).
  • Three different image sampling methods and support for additional render elements (diffuse, reflection, GI, etc).
  • Physically accurate full global illumination solutions using Sun & Sky procedural lighting system.
  • V-Ray specific frame buffer with integrated colour corrections and display of multiple rendering elements.

Benefits

  • Being centered on a solid V-Ray Standalone pipeline allows you to use V-Ray within Maya, and have your whole renderfarm operate outside of Maya.
  • V-Ray is easy to use as parameters don’t have to be configured before an image can be rendered. V-Ray's default values create nice images within a very short time.
  • V-Ray’s high calculation speed makes rendering fast, even for large complex with huge meshes and high resolution texture maps.

What's New

V-Ray 2.0 for Maya gives Maya users the same powerful features that were only previously available in V-Ray for 3ds Max including:

  • Python callback for access to and modification of the translated V-Ray scene before rendering
  • Support for the Substance textures in Maya 2011.5 and Maya 2012
  • Faster rendering of dynamic geometry (displacement, fur, proxies, hair etc.)

A full list of new features can be found in the ‘What’s New PDF’ in the Related Links on the right.
